The Clinical Study Club Series for the Novice is designed for dentists new to dental sleep medicine. The two teleconference sessions are three months each. The sessions will consist of a discussion based on a recent article.
These one-hour teleconference meetings will be limited to ten participants. Sessions will be accompanied by selected literature, which will be provided to participants for review prior to the meeting and discussed on the conference call. Lectures will be followed by discussions led by the facilitator who is either a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine or educator in dental sleep medicine. The facilitator will also provide participants with the opportunity to discuss clinical issues and share experiences with colleagues.

Katherine Phillips, DDS, Diplomate, ABDSM Dr. Phillips is a general dentist and graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy Dental School in Detroit, MI. Dr. Phillips’ undergraduate education was completed at the University of Michigan, where she was an Angell Scholar. She became a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine in 2010, and is a member of the AADSM, the Illinois Sleep Society, Illinois State Dental Society, American Dental Association and Will County Dental Association. Dr. Phillips joined Midwest Dental Sleep Center in December 2008, where her practice is limited to treatment of patients diagnosed with Sleep Disordered Breathing.
Kathleen Bennett, DDS, Diplomate, ABDSM Dr. Bennett is a graduate of Georgetown University and SUNY Buffalo Dental School, and she been in private practice restorative dentistry since 1983. She was the Program Committee Chair for the AADSM 16th Annual Meeting in 2007 and currently serves on the AADSM Board of Directors. She was a faculty member at the SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine’s sleep medicine fellowship program and trained medical sleep fellows in clinical rotations in her office from 2004-2006. Currently she is practicing dental sleep medicine exclusively in a Cincinnati Ohio University based practice and is affiliated with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital where she treats Spina Bifida & Adult Down Syndrome patients with OSA.
Leila Chahine, DMD, Diplomate, ABDSM Dr. Chahine graduated from the University of Connecticut School Of Dentistry in 1996. She is a Diplomate with the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. Currently Dr. Chahine is in private practice in Danbury, CT where she devotes a significant part of her practice to the Dental Sleep Medicine. As a member of the Danbury Hospital, she enjoys working closely with the Pulmonary Department on sleep apnea and dental sleep medicine, both lecturing and consulting with the staff. Dr. Chahine practices comprehensive general dentistry where she integrates her broad knowledge of dentistry with sleep medicine.

Rose Sheats, DMD Dr. Sheats is an Associate Professor and Graduate Orthodontic Program Director at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. A graduate of the Harvard School of Dental Medicine with an orthodontic certificate from the University of Florida and a Masters in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, she is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. As the Chair of the AADSM Education Committee, she brought to fruition the efforts of committee members to update and publish the AADSM’s Educational CD ROM in 2011. Dr. Sheats has been providing oral appliances to patients since 1997. As an academician, her research interests include advancing an understanding of pediatric sleep disordered breathing and possible treatment options. In 2010, one of her graduate orthodontic residents won the AADSM’s Graduate Student Research Award and Research Excellence Award for research in this area.
Lecture followed by a discussion of salient points assigned by the facilitator during which questions are answered by participants. The facilitator will present literature to be discussed in context with the session topic.

Confirmation will be sent via e-mail within two weeks of receipt of registration form and payment. All participants must register prior to the course in order to participate.
Written notification must be submitted for registration cancellation. A $100 administrative fee will be withheld on all cancellations before February 3, 2012. After this date, no refunds will be available. The AADSM reserves the right to cancel the course and provide a full refund should conditions warrant. The refund will include the cost of registration for the course.
