AADSM Mastery Program
The AADSM Mastery Program is a comprehensive, clinically-focused and evidence-based education program limited to dentists, that provides dentists with the necessary training and skills they need to provide oral appliance therapy to patients who suffer from obstructive sleep apnea and snoring. Upon completion of the program, dentists will have the competence and confidence to provide oral appliance therapy and build relationships with patients, physicians, and payers. The Mastery Program offers nearly 100 credit hours of continuing education.
The AADSM Mastery Program has historically consisted of three courses: Mastery 1, Mastery 2, and Mastery 3. Starting in 2021, content from Mastery 2 and 3 will be combined into one course and will be referred to as Mastery 2. To accommodate the increased amount of content now provided in Mastery 2, the length of time to complete the course has been extended.
Mastery 1 will only be offered virtually in 2022. Mastery 2 will be offered virtually or in-person in 2021, and only offered in-person in 2022. Overviews of each of the courses can be found below by clicking on either the Mastery 1 or Mastery 2 logos. All virtual Mastery courses include recorded lectures and demonstration videos (where appropriate), four live Q&A sessions, an online discussion board, and a virtual exhibit hall. The in-person Mastery 2 includes in-person lectures, a networking reception, and an in-person exhibit hall. Those who attend the in-person Mastery 2 also receive access to Mastery 2 recorded lectures, recordings of virtual Q&A sessions, and the online discussion board.
The AADSM Mastery Program requires several Clinical Competency assignments that require patient interaction. Registered attendees will receive detailed instructions regarding these assignments during each course window. Participants must have access to Microsoft PowerPoint to complete some of these assignments.
The deadline for the two patient cases for 2021 Mastery 2 (for both the virtual and in-person courses) is February 28, 2022. For an overview of Clinical Competency assignments, download the overview.

As of September 30, the New Orleans Health Department has imposed several restrictions related to COVID-19. Everyone, regardless of vaccination status, is required to wear a mask indoors when with people who are not in their immediate household; this includes the New Orleans Marriott where Mastery 2 will be held. As such, Mastery 2 attendees will be required to wear a mask throughout the hotel, including all meeting space for the duration of the course, unless seated and actively eating or drinking.
Additionally, attendees should be aware that proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test within 72 hours is required for indoor New Orleans restaurants and entertainment businesses. Although proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test within 72 hours is not required to enter the course meeting space or stay at the New Orleans Marriott, it is required to access the hotel’s restaurant, bar or fitness center.
The hotel front desk may ask for proof and provide a separate-colored key card to provide access to these amenities. For those who are unable to provide proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test results within the last 72 hours, food and beverage at the New Orleans Marriott will only be available to go.
The citations for not following these requirements may result in a misdemeanor citation and a fine up to $500 or six months in jail. Further updates regarding safety measures that the AADSM will be implementing at the course will be provided to attendees and exhibitors as the course nears.
